My biological father was very blessed by God. He had a very well-paid job at Ghana Telecom, but he neglected me and never took care of me. That is because he and my mother were divorced so he rejected me. He never took care of me. But when my stepfather married my mother, he accepted me as his own child. Although of all his children I have been the naughtiest, who came home with a pregnancy at a very early age. I had a child before I got married. But my stepfather didn’t reject me because of that, because I got pregnant while I was still living at his house. He could have thrown me out of the house. But he didn’t do that. This man took care of me, he loved me. I already have four children and pregnant with my fifth. My stepfather is also very involved in the lives of his grandchildren. The way he treats me, I don’t think there are many stepfathers who are like that with their stepdaughters or stepsons. He treats me the same way he treats his own biological children and made me feel accepted and loved. At the end of the month my husband sometimes puts money in an envelope to give to him to show our gratitude, but he never takes it because of his grandchildren. He will say that we should use it to take care of the children. A month doesn’t go by that he doesn’t do anything for his grandchildren. He is a tailor, so he sews clothes for them every month. He sews the clothes for the boys himself. But for the girls, next to him is a woman who is also a tailor. He will buy the fabrics and give it to the woman to sew for them. I can’t possibly honour my stepfather enough. I want God to richly bless him. May he bless me too, so that I can do something wonderful for him, as he rightly deserves for all the love he has shown me and that I love him very much
